the future of ESR is here today
- 20 Second Results
- 100 uL from Primary Tube
- Barcoded Primary EDTA Sample Tubes
- Closed Container Sampling
- Fully Automated Walk-away Operation
For the first time ever ESR testing is FULLY AUTOMATED and eliminates all of the traditional productivity roadblocks that have made ESR one of the most difficult and time-consuming tests in the laboratory.
No batching, sample splitting, special cuvettes, duplicate primary tubes, or manual sample handling of any kind.

- Precise
Rouleaux formation is the first and most robust phase of RBC sedimentation after disaggregating (mixing) RBCs in whole blood samples. The classic Westergren method for measuring erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) includes this phase, but relies upon time and gravity to “precipitate out” the resulting aggregated RBCs.
In the controlled environment of a micro-flow cell, the science of aggregation kinetics (rouleaux formation) is well defined and has a better than 95% correlation to the Westergren method, without the environmental variables that make Westergren and modified Westergen based methods difficult and time consuming to perform.
iSED’s advanced technology results in a test that takes only 20 seconds to complete and requires just 100uL of patient sample from a standard primary EDTA sample tube.
